Fresh violence in Rajasthan during bandh

Jaipur, May 30: Fresh incidents of damage to railway tracks, arson and chakka jam were reported today even as bandhs were organised at different places in Rajasthan on a call from State Gujjar Reservation Action Committee.

An official spokesman told sources here that the agitating mob gathered near the Bharatpur railway station and damaged railway tracks.

They also burnt two buses in Divai village near Bandikui and Sikandara town besides staging a ''chakka jam'' in Tizara town of Alwar district.

Minor incidents of violence were also reported from some other places in the state, the spokesman said.

Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said bandhs were reported from a number of places in the state except Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions, in protest against yesterday police firing which left 14, including a policeman dead.

The army and the police forces were maintaining vigil in the violence hit areas.

Meanwhile, the situation was again reviewed at the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here today.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the situation with her cabinet colleagues soon after her arrival from New Delhi last night.
