Four killed and 30 others injured in road mishap

Shillong, May 30 (UNI) At least four people were killed and 30 seriouly injured in a road accident at Meghalaya's Ryndangbriew area today.

Police said the accident occurred when a bus fell into a deep gorge while the driver was trying to avoid a head on collision with another truck coming from the opposite side.

The bus was on on its way to Kyrdemkulai village in Ri-Bhoi district from here.

Police said three of the passengers died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries at a Civil hospital here.

The injured persons have been rushed to the same hospital and many were released after administering first aid.

The investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause, police added.

More than 30 people have lost their lives in road accidents in the state this month.
