Former Volleyball player attacked

Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) Former Indian Volleyball Captain V Ravikanth Reddy was attacked by APPCC Chief Keshava Rao's son Venkat and his friends at their residence. They beat him and injured his survical bone and colar bone.

Ravikanth would be under observation for couple of days more in Appollo Hospitals here.

A dispute over the one acre land belonged to Ravikanth led to the attack.

Venkat infact had purchased seven acres of land from third party in which Ravikanth's one acre land was illegally included.

Ravikanth had earlier represented the country in several international volleyball tournaments and led the national team also.

He won the coveted Arjuna award in 1994.

On hearing the attack on Ravikanth, several sports officials and international sports persons condemned the henious act.

Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association L Venkatrami Reddy led a proest rally of international players condemning the attack.
