Extra Railway Protection Force deployed in Rajasthan

Kota, May 30 (UNI) Five companies of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) will be deployed in Rajasthan following damage to railway property in the ongoing violence over the Gujjar community's demand for ST status.

According to sources, Gujjar protestors have damaged several metre of railway tracks, besides destroying several other railway properties including signals and crossings, especially in Bandikui in Dausa district.

Sources said two companies of the RPF will be deployed in Kota and three companies in Bandikui. The State Railway Police and GRPF have been asked to stand by on alert.

At least 14 people were killed and 100 injured in clashes and police firing in three districts yesterday during protests by the agitating Gujjar community who are demanding inclusion in the ST category.
