Etihad starts flights from Abu Dhabi to Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram, May 30 (UNI) Etihad Airways, United Arab Emirate's (UAE) national airline started its operation to the capital city of Kerala today from Abu Dhabi.
Launching the service here at a function, state Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan expressed the hope that the airline would charge affordable price from expatriate Keralites travelling between Kerala and Arab countries.
Etihad Airways Executive Vice President (Sales and Service) Geert W Boven said the airline would extend its operations to Kochi from next week, besides converting its Delhi service to daily.
With the introduction of new services the frequency of Etihad flights to India would be increased to 21 from the existing 10 in a week.
With the introduction of daily service to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, the frequency of flights to the country would be increased to 28 in a week from October, he added.
Currently Etihad would fly from Abu Dhabi to Thiruvananthapuram every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and from here to Abu Dhabi on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
