Eight people killed in road mishaps in Kanrataka
Bangalore, May 30 (UNI) Eight people were killed and two others injured in two separate road mishaps in Karnataka today.
Five passengers of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Bus were mowed down by a speeding lorry near in Bagalkot district during the early hours today.
Hungund police said that the passengers of a KSRTC bus had alighted from the bus after one of the tyre had burst and tried to signal a lorry, coming from Bangalore, to stop. However, the speeding truck ran over them killing all the five on the spot. This included the two drivers of the long distance bus.
After being alerted, Ilkal police spotted the lorry and arrested the driver.
In the other incident that occurred in Belgaum district, three people were killed on the spot and two others were injured when a truck collided with another stationary truck near Kakati, about 10 km from Belgaum city.
The truck was carrying mangoes from Arasikere to Sangli in Maharashtra when the mishap occurred. The injured had been admitted to Belgaum district hospital, police added.
