Dr Janardhanan wins 'Agnihothrudu' award

Thrissur, Kerala, May 30 (UNI) Dr K K Janardhanan, who has done extensive research on the use of medicinal mushrooms for cancer therapy, has been selected for the Dr Agnihothrudu memorial endowment award this year.

Dr K K Janardhanan, Professor, Microbiology, Amala Cancer Research Centre, Thrissur, was selected for the award for his outstanding contributions in Mycology, Fungal Metabolites and Medicinal mushrooms.

The award, instituted by the Chennai-based Mycological Society of India, comprised a citation and a purse of Rs 10,000.

The award would be presented to Dr Janardhanan at the next annual meeting of the Society, scheduled to be held at Thapar Research Institute, Patiala, by the year-end.
