Displaced persons meet CM, demand more compensation
Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) People displaced from Devipatnam village in East Godavari district due to the mega Polavaram project today met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here and asked him to raise the compensation amount.
They complained to the Chief Minister that the officials concerned were showing a lethargic attitude towards payment of compensation. The compensation was not computed even on par with the neighbouring mandal and it was not sufficient enough to repay the dues to credit societies.
They demanded Rs two lakh as compensation per acre for the land lost, apart from other rehabilitation package.
