Delhi police takes Rasheed into custody

Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) The Delhi Crime Branch Police today took Rasheed, the alleged kingpin of the human trafficking racket, into their custody for interrogation.

According to police sources here, a four-member Delhi Police Team, which arrived in the city today, left immediately after the CCS police handed over Rasheed to them.

The Delhi Police will interrogate Rasheed who surrendered before the CCS police on May three in connection with the human trafficking racket unearthed after the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara in New Delhi.

The involvement of Rasheed, who runs a travel agency in the city, came to light during the interrogation of Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) MLA K Lingaiah in connection with securing a fake passport for a woman in the name of his wife Tara.

Besides Mr Lingaiah, another TRS MLA, S Bapu Rao, was also taken into custody by the CCS Police for his alleged involvement in the scam.

In the confessional statement, Rasheed said he offered money to the two TRS MLAs for help in smuggling the women abroad.
