DEC asks non-voters to leave Ullal

Mangalore, May 30 (UNI) District Election Officer (DEC) M Maheshwar Rao today asked all political functionaries, who are not voters, to leave Ullal by 1700 hrs tomorrow to ensure smooth conduct of the bypoll on June 2.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rao, who is also the District Deputy Commissioner said all political leaders, party workers and outsiders engaged by contesting parties other than voters have been asked to leave the constituency before the deadline.

Use of cellular phones, wireless sets and other electronic gadgets were banned within 100 metres of the polling booths, he added.

Of the 1,60,862 voters, 81,802 were women, he said adding 90.22 per cent of the voters were issued with Election Photo Identity Cards.
