Congress yet to decide on inclusion of Gujjars in ST list

Jaipur, May 30 (UNI) The Congress is yet to take its stand on the issue of inclusion of the Gujjar community in the Scheduled Tribes category, party Central team leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi said.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Chaturvedi said at present the issue was not under the consideration of the party as it was a state government subject and the government should make its position clear.

He said the three-member Central team, including him, had been sent here to meet agitating Gujjars to persuade them restore peace and to study the basis of their demand.

The team, basically on a peace mission here, is also expected to submit its report on the reservation issue to the party high command, which in due course of time might decide its policy.
