Jaipur, May 30 (UNI) A three-member AICC team sent by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for taking stock of the situation in the violence-hit areas of Dausa and Bundi districts, was arrested in Dausa today, the party General Secretary and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Gehlot said the team comprising party leaders-Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Mrs Krishna Tirath and K C Lenka accompanied by Congress state president B D Kalla and others, was proceeding for violence hit areas of Dausa district this morning, when they were arrested.
The team members and other leaders including Mr Kalla, were earlier stopped at Bassi town and were later taken into custody by the police in Dausa, Mr Gehlot said.
Mr Gehlot said the state government's step was unjustified and condemnable as those arrested were all responsible leaders of Congress and were on a mission aiming at restoration of peace and normalcy.
The former Chief Minister said this showed that the state government was not willing to accept the oppositions' cooperation.
He also held Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje responsible for creating a communication gap between her government and the agitating Gujjar community leaders and said this should be broken and all should work for restoration of normalcy.
