Compass show to offer low cost computers,laptops

Kolkata, May 30(UNI) The three-day annual "Compass Used and Discounted PC Show 2007" will be held here from June one offering computers and laptops at low price.

Organised by Computer Association of Eastern India(COMPASS), the show is expected to draw those who want to buy pre-owned computers and laptops and also those who seek vatrious computer parts, and peripherals.

"The aim of holding the usewd and discounted PC show is based on the twin objectives of helping channel partners to clear out their old stock and also to help people own PCs at unbeatable low prices," CMPASS President K L Lalani today said.

COMPASS is an association of entrepreneurs of IT industry in Eastern India. Mr. Lalani said the entrereneurs under COMPASS umbrella held about 80 per cent of the total turnover in Eastern India.

Stating that the objective of the association was to help spread use of computer among the people, Mr.Lalani said COMPASS had a target of setting up one computer training centre in the state every year.

In reply to a question, Mr.Lalani said COMPASS accounted for 15 to 20 per cent of the total Rs.400,000 crore all-India IT market while its share was between 15 and 17 per cent in the sale of six million computers across the country last year.
