CLP asks Naidu to reply to NTR daughter's letter

Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) The Congress today said if TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had any courage or moral standing, he should answer the letter written by Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purandhareswari, daughter of TDP Founder and late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.

In a strongly-worded six-page letter, Ms Purandhareswari had asked Mr Naidu to stop ''misusing'' her father's name for his personal and political gains. She had also said her father loathed Mr Naidu, who had dislodged Mr Rao as the Chief Minister by ''backstabbing him''.

Responding to this letter, TDP Parliamentary Party leader K Yerran Naidu alleged at Tirupati yesterday that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy might have influenced her to write the letter.

Speaking to mediapersons at the CLP office, AICC Secretary P Sudhakara Reddy, MLC, Legislator P Satyanarayana and MLCs Changala Rayadu and Kanukula Janardhana Reddy alleged that the three-day Mahanadu (annual conference) of the TDP at Tirupati was utilised only for mud-slinging and making wild allegations against the Congress, the Chief Minister and his family members.

''Mr Naidu is questioning even industrialisation. Does he expect the Government to consult him before giving permission to any industry. Does he not realise he is no longer the Chief Minister and his party was thrown out of power. He and his party are still to recover from the shock of losing the election and regain their balance and hence this kind of talk,'' Mr Sudhakar Reddy said.
