BSP demands CBI probe in CD case

Dharamshala, May 30 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BSP demanded a CBI inquiry into the corruption charges levelled against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his MP wife Pratibha Singh, saying only an inquiry will reveal the truth.

Talking to mediapersons here party's state secretary Prakash Chand Saniyal said both Mr and Mrs Singh should resign from their posts on moral grounds following the charges.

He said only a CBI inquiry into the incident help in bringing the truth before the people of the state.

Denying reports that BSP would be a part of the third front, he said the BSP would not be a part of the third front.

''However, Mr Mankotia is welcome if he wishes to join the BSP.

In such a case he will be a probable Chief Ministerial candidate in the next assembly polls in the state.'' The BSP would contest all the 68 assembly seats own its own in the next assembly elections, due in February next year, and a maximum number of candidates would be from the Brahmin community followed by Rajputs and OBC community, he said.

The BSP's experiment in Uttar Pradesh would also be suited for Himachal and would catapault the party to power in the state after the next assembly elections, he added.
