Annual Brahmotsavam at Balaji temple twice this year
Tirumala, May 30 (UNI) In view of 'Adhika Masam' this year, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will celebrate the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam twice this year - Salakatla from September 15 to 23 and Navaratri Brahmotsavam from October 12 to 20.
According to a TTD release here today, TTD Joint Executive Officer G Balaramaiah said that once in four years, two Brahmotsavams would be held at Tirumala temple in view of Adhika Masam. After holding consultations with the Agama advisory and veda pandits, it was decided to hold Srivari Brahmotsavam twice this year.
He said officials were instructed to start preparations for the two mega events, during which lakhs of devotees were expected to attend well in advance.
Mr Balaramaiah asked the TTD Chief Security and Vigilance Officer to review the security arrangements and instal closed circuit TVs at all vantage points in Tirumala town, particularly around the Mada streets. Police officials were asked to submit their requirements at least two months in advance to the engineering department offiicals.
During the nine-day festival period, he directed the Nitya Annadanam officials to be prepared to feed the pilgrims and make facilities to provide free food packets to pilgrims in the ordinary darshan queue at Vaikunta queue complex-II, the release added.
