Lucknow, May 30 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today ordered that the 'Z' category security given to Samajwadi Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh be continued till May 31, when the case comes up for the next hearing.

Mr Singh had challenged the alleged move by the state government to strip him of the security cover due to ''politically motivated reasons.'' The court has also summoned a report from the central and Uttar Pradesh governments in this regard.

A vacation bench comprising Justices U K Dhawan and Ranvijay Singh passed the order after hearing Mr Singh's counsel Virendra Bhatia and Gaurav Bhatia. The state government was represented by advocate general Jyotindra Mishra.

The SP leader had alleged his security could be withdrawn anytime.

He claimed the state government had provided him security on the the Centre is recommendation after he received threats by terrorist organisations in 2004.

Mr Singh was given 10 Cobra Commandos under the 'Z' category security cover.
