Air India to emphasis on better connectivity in NE

Agartala, May 30 (UNI) Air India has decided to emphasis on ensuring a better connectivity of both the domestic and international flights in North East.

Air India, is the merged entity of International Air India and the domestic Indian, earlier known as Indian Airlines.

Talking to UNI over telephone from Mumbai, Air India newly appointed Chairman cum Managing Director V Thulasidas, today said operation of the combined flights would start from July end and priority would be given to ensure a sustainable air network.

''The actual merger of Air India and Indian will take place in July end. We will announce our detail plan of combined flight operation afterwards. We have plans to strengthen the flight operations of both domestic and international (Air India Express) in the NE,'' Mr Thulasidas said.

Indian and Air India are slated to induct as many as 68 new aircrafts soon to regain the dominant market share, he added.

The combined aviation company now has more than a hundred flights under the brand name of Air India, Mr Thulasidas stated.

He informed that the merger had helped to gain leverage over other private carriers.
