Admin to permit setting up of private medical colleges

Puducherry, May 30 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would grant permission to those coming forward to set up private medical colleges in rural areas in the Union Territory, Health Minister E Valsaraj said here tonight.

Inagurating a new building of the primary health centre at Mannadipet constituency here this evening, Mr Valsaraj said presently there were seven private medical colleges and most of them were set up during his tenure as Health Minister.

He said during the last Budget session many legislators had demanded for private medical colleges in their constituencies.

However, the administration would give permission for setting up private medical colleges in rural areas if anyone come forward, he added.
