A man awarded life sentence on murder charge

Madikeri, May 30 (UNI) The Fast Track Court sentenced a man to life imprisonment on the charges of murdering a person while three others were acquitted yesterday.

Varath Basheer, a resident of Kunjila village had brutally murdered one Makki Ali in 2005 who was travelling from Virajpet in a bus.

Basheer and three others stopped the bus and Makki Ali was pulled out of the bus and attacked with clubs and billhook with other passengers remaining muke spectators.

The coart acquitted Irshad, Ashrad and Kannapani for lack of evidence.

Tense situation prevailed for some time when Basheer's supporters pelted stones at the complainants in the court. Police registered a case in this regard.
