7 years RI for raping minor in HP
Shimla, May 30 (UNI) A local court here in Himachal Pradesh today sentenced a person to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 for raping an 11-year-old girl last year.
Yogender Singh, a resident of Tuhilk village in Chopal area of the state, was accused of raping an 11-year-old girl on October nine, 2006, while she was alone at her maternal uncle's house.
The court sentenced Singh for seven years RI under section 376 and a fine of Rs 25,000 and two years of imprisonment under section 452 and a fine of Rs 5,000. Both the sentences would run simultaneously.
Singh would have to undergo another year of imprisonment on failing to pay the fine, of which Rs 10,000 would be paid to the victim.
The case has been decided within three months after it was registered in February, early this year.
