Two die, several injured in clashes with Bhutan Refugees
Siliguri, May 29 (UNI) At least two persons, including a child were killed and over 35 injured, most of them policemen in skirmishes between Bhutanese Refugees and Indian security forces at Mechi bridge, bordering India and Nepal, 30 kms from here today.
Among the injured were Darjeeling's Superintendant of Police Rajesh Subarna and 30 other Indian securitymen of Suraksha Sima Bal and West Bengal police, official sources said tonight.
Trouble erupted, when a large number of Bhutanese Refugees stoned Indian securitymen, while trying to enter Bhutan via India to take part in mock election in Bhutan, official sources said.
Some of the injured among the refugees were rushed to hospital at Kakarbhitta in Nepal, where two of them succumbed to injuries.
To review the situation tomorrow at 0900 hours a flag meeting would be held at Panitanki between officials of Nepal and Indian Government, according to the high officials of Nepal and Indian Security agencies.
