School employees held for student's death

Kanpur, May 29: Three school employees were arrested today, following the death of a student, who was reported to have drowned in the college swimming pool yesterday.

Police said Veerendra Saroop College's swimming coach and two guards were arrested after a ruckus created by parents of the deceased Raunak Gupta. Efforts are on to nab the absconding college principal and manager.

Investigations are on against the first postmortem report which said Raunak was poisoned, whereas the report of the special panel of doctors stated he was drowned.

A case was registered under section 304 (a) charging the college administration with dereliction of duty.

Meanwhile, all the nearby shops had to be closed after the irated mob pelted stones on the school building.
