Rs 1.65 cr electrification project for Morni

Chandigarh, May 29 (UNI) The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has accorded sanction to a Rs 1.65 crore project of village electrification programme phase-II of Morni block in Panchkula.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said under the project 149 hamlets of block Morni, having a population of 1652, would be electrified.

He added these villages would be electrified by providing home lighting systems consisting of two 11 watt compact flourescent light and one fan in every household.

Mr Chander Mohan further added under the scheme 208 Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) street lighting systems would also be installed besides 336 SPV home lighting systems.

He said during the first phase 45 hamlets were provided electrification at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore and the work had been completed in July, 2006.

The minister stated that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy would provide a sum of Rs 85.97 lakh, Shivalik Development Agency would contribute Rs 38.76 lakh while Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency would provide an assistance of Rs 41 lakh.
