Poor performance of government schools in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, May 29 (UNI) Once again the government schools have performed badly in the annual examination of the middle standard conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

According to the results annonced by the Board majority of the unsuccessful students are from government schools. Only ten students have found place in the merit list of 540 students of various schools released by PSEB.

Intrestingly Amanjot Kaur, who topped the middle exam in the state, is a student of a government school at Rajgarh Kube village in Bathinda district.

According to the results, girls have again outshined the boys.

Only 135 boys have found place in merit list whereas there are 405 girls in top 540 students.

Meanwhile, 90 students of Sangrur district, 39 students of Bathinda, 62 students of Ludhiana, 30 students of Gurdaspur, 28 students of Patiala, 23 students of Kapurthala, 19 students of Hoshiarpur and 15 students of Amritsar have figured in merit list.

However, only 7 students of Jalandhar district, 8 students of Rupnager and only one student of Fatehgarh Sahib district have found place in merit list.
