Police firing leaves two dead in Dausa district
Jaipur, May 29 (UNI) At least two people were killed and several others injured in Bala Khedi village of nearby Dausa district of Rajasthan when police opened fire on a mob of Gurjars who were holding a demonstration and ''rasta roko'' on the highway to press for the inclusion of their community in the Scheduled Tribes(ST) category here this morning.
While police sources confirmed two deaths, unofficial reports put the death toll at six.
Some injured were referred to SMS Hospital here.
The sources here said the demonstrators turned violent and resorted to attack on the police, forcing the latter to open fire in self-defence.
They said about a dozen people, including seven police personnel, were injured in the violence.
