Pak national nabbed from Samjhauta Express
Ambala, May 29 (UNI) Pakistani national Zafar Ali, who was arrested for possessing fake passport while travelling in the Samjhauta Express train on April 18, was remanded to four-day police custody by a local court here today.
The interrogation of Zafar Ali could help in the investigation into the Samjhauta train blast case.
The Haryana Government Railway Police (GRP), which had arrested Zafar Ali, produced the accused in the court of the duty magistrate here today as per a directive by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The GRP had approached the High Court to seek police remand of the accused who had been in judicial custody ever since.
The GRP during a special search of the train had found that Zafar Ali was having a fake passport. Later, the GRP found that he had four such fake passports.
The GRP, after taking the Pak national in custody, had produced him in the court on April 20 and sought police remand which the court refused. The GRP then moved the special court with an appeal for his custody on April 24 Later, the GRP filed a writ in the High Court which accepted its request for the police custody of the accused but ordered that he be produced in the Ambala court to seek his remand.
Accordingly, Zafar was today produced in the court of duty magistrate who remanded him to police custody for four days.
