Karwar records 9 cm rain

Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) South West Monsoon has advanced into entire Coastal Karnataka and some parts of South Interior Karnataka today.

Also conditions are favourable for its further advance into some more parts of Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours here today.

Monsoon was active over Coastal Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Karwar 9; Honavar 8.

Chief rainfall amounts (cm): Gowribidanur 6; Shirali, Manki, Ankola, Challakere 5 each; Shivani, Hosadurga 4 each; Karkala, Holalkere, Bharamasagara, Haveri, Raichur 3 each; Bhatkal, Gokak, Savanur, Deodurg, N.R.Pura, Ajjampura, Tarikere, Thondebhavi, Hessarghatta, Chikkanahalli, Sira, Pavgada 2 each; Mudibidre, Kundapur, Panambur, Udupi, Mundagod, Koppal, Munirabad, Kuknoor, Yadgir, Agumbe, Kottigehara, Bangarpet, Yelahanka, Kottur, Kudligi, Bellary, Chitradurga, B.Durga 1 each.

Maximum temperatures fell at many places being appreciably so at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and changed little over North Interior Karnataka. They were below normal at a few places over Interior Karnataka. Gulbarga recorded highest maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Thursday morning:Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka Heavy Rainfall Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few places with isolated very heavy falls over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during the same period.

Fishermen Warning for Karnataka Coast: Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching fifty to sixty kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during next 24 hours.

Local forecast: Partly cloudy. Rain/thundershowers likely towards evening/night. Maximum temperature would be around 31 degrees celsius.
