India to send delegation to GCC: Kamal Nath

Mumbai, May 29 (UNI) India will send a high-level delegation to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to look out for better prospects for bilateral trade in Food and Agricultural products, Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath said here today.

'' A high level delegation comprising of members of Agriculture Product Development will be sent to the Gulf countries, focusing on the export of agro products, vegetables, fruits and poultry products from India,'' Mr Kamal Nath said.

Addressing a press conference on GCC-India Investment Opportunities here, he said ''India GCC strategic partnership will get a new thrust through bilateral trade. The third meeting of Indo-GCC forum since its inception in 2004, is a milestone in developing mutual consent for enhancing bilateral trade between India with its neighbours.'' He said ''India is also looking at accelerating the talk regarding Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two parties and senior officials of both the sides will chalk out a strategy to speed up the process of FTA''.

The minister said bilaterally India is engaging its neighbouring countries to promote Joint business with the help of public private partnership.

''Hopefully we have a joint committee to promote public private partnership and B2B interaction between India and GCC countries'', Mr Kamal Nath added.
