India poised for sea-change in IT sector

Shillong, May 29(UNI) Meghalaya Governor B L Joshi has said India is poised for a sea-change in the field of science and technology, especially Information Technology.

''Science and Technology offers the students challenging careers and hence the education in this sector should be more broad based.

We should give priority to this sector,'' he said while inaugurating a a new school building and computer lab of the Montfort Secondary School at Jonglapara in East Garo Hills today.

Asserting that the potential and achievement of any nation could be only assessed by the level of its educational development, Mr Joshi said,''We are still lagging behind in achieving 100 per cent literacy and we have to overcome this by stressing on quality education.'' UNI
