Grenade attack in Diphu, KLNLF cadre held
Diphu, May 29 (UNI) Three persons were seriously injured when suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade at a hardware store in this headquarter town of Karbi Anglong district this evening.
Police informed that the attack took place at 1900 hrs when militants lobbed the Chinese-made grenade at the store.
The injured have been rushed to the Diphu Civil Hospital.
Police suspect extortion as the possible cause of the attack adding the anti-talks faction of the Dima Halom Daogah (DHD) might also be a reason.
Meanwhile, one KLNLF militant was arrested in a joint raid by the CRPF and Asom Police at Lanhlaksu area under Howraghat police station of the district at 1230 hrs.
The joint team also busted a camp of the outlawed Karbi Longri Nationalist Liberation Front (KLNLF) and seized a large haul of arms and ammunition.
However, the other cadres in the camp, numbering about 10, managed to escape.
