FSL assistant director to be cross-examined on June 16
Ahmedabad, May 29 (UNI) The Nanavati-Shah Commission has directed D B Talati, Assistant Director (Chemistry) of Forensic Science Laboratory, to be present before the Commission on June 16 for cross-examination.
Advocate Mukul Sinha of the Jan Sangharsh Manch(JSM), a rights body, today requested the Commission to call Mr Talati for cross examination with regard to his claim on the presence of petrol in the samples collected from the burnt S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express.
Advocate Sinha said the FSL report by Mr Talati contained several discrepancies and demanded direction for his presence here for a cross-examination on his claim that samples collected on February 28, 2002 from outside and inside the S-6 coach contained residual petrol hydrocarbons.
Advocate Sinha said the chromatographs submitted by Mr Talati to the Commission did not match with the chromatograph of petrol, which had been taken as the control element. He claimed that because of this mismatch, the FSL theory on the presence of petrol stands negated as it is not scientifically correct.
