Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, May 29 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Acting Director-General of Police Santkumar Paswan today said that four naxals were suspected to have been killed in the encounter that followed yesterday's rebel assault on a police team in Bastar district.

''About 150 ultras ambushed a dozen constables. Nine personnel were martyred and three injured. Two of them were rushed to Raipur while the third is undergoing treatment at Kondagaon. Eight constables' bodies were recovered while a helicopter is assisting the search for the ninth,'' he told UNI here after visiting Kudoor Hill where the encounter took place.

Constables Baldev Netam, Pramod Sinha and Ambikalal Agre ran out of ammunition while bravely confronting the extremists who later tied up their hands and handed over a latter demanding the release of a Maoist leader and ending of the 'Salwa Judum' anti-naxal campaign.
