Fire breaks out in a jute mill at Garulia

Barrackpore, May 29 (UNI) Fire broke out in Gouri Shankar Jute Mill at Garulia in North 24 Parganas near here this morning.

Fire brigade personnel said that the fire was caused by a sizable amount of jute waste which caught fire while being loaded onto a truck inside the mill complex. The fire later also spread inside the waste go-down.

Meanwhile, three fire tenders had been pressed into service.

Fire was put off within two hours.

No casualties have been reported, fire brigade personnel added.
