Dy CM under state election commission's scanner

Patna, May 29 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi came under the state election commission's scanner for allegedly entering a polling booth, gaurded by his armed escorts in his official car, to cast his vote during the Patna Municipal Corporation election today.

State election commissioner J K Dutta told UNI that he had since directed district magistrate of Patna B Rajendra to inquire into the alleged violation of election code of conduct and report to the commission at the earliest.

''None would be spared for violation of the model code of conduct enforced during municipal elections,'' Mr Dutta said, adding the state election commission was awaiting the full report in this connection before taking any action against the offender.

Meanwhile Mr Rajendra, who is also the returning officer of the civic poll, however, said that he was still not aware about the incident and assured that the matter would be investigated as soon as it was brought to his notice.

Mr Modi's reaction to the whole episode could be obtained since he left Patna on official engagements immediately after casting his vote.
