Dhumal seeks CM's resignation over corruption charges

Una, May 29 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today sought Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's resignation on moral grounds following charges of corruption levelled against him.

Addressing media persons here, Mr Dhumal said the contents of the CD released by former tourism minister and Shahpur legislator Vijai Singh Mankotia had allegedly exposed the Chief Minister. He termed the Congress as the "mother of corruption".

He said the party that had announced to contest the Hamirpur Parliamentary by-polls on the issue of corruption had no moral ground to seek votes from the people of the state after one of its senior party member has been exposed.

The developments during the last few months have only vindicated the BJP allegations that corruption was being promoted and given shelter by the Chief Minister's office, he said.

Referring to the theft of huge money from the Chief Minister's office recently, Mr Dhumal said all this point towards a ''corruption nexus'' that had taken roots in the corridors of power.
