Deshpande meets Musharraf

Islamabad, May 29 (UNI) Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has underscored the need for consolidating the peace process with India by making progress in conflict resolution, particularly on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

General Musharraf was talking to Ms Nirmala Deshpande, a member of the Indian Rajya Sabha, who called on him here today. She heads the Indian Chapter of Pakistan-India friendship group in the Indian Parliament.

The President commended Ms Deshpande for her efforts to promote peace between the two countries and briefed her on the progress being made in the Composite Dailogue, including the Confidence Building Measures, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said here after the meeting.

Ms Deshpande apprised the President of her efforts for the promotion of peace between Pakistan and India . She also informed the President about her recent activities in the field of rural development in India.
