Centre sanctions Rs 92 Crore for State
Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) Karnataka will receive Rs 92 crore under the Centre's farmers' package for dairy development activities, state Animal Husbandary minister Mr Revu Naik Belamagi said today.
Speaking to newsmen Mr Naik here he said the fund would be utilised for various dairy development activities including purchase of high breed cows, setting up of fodder banks, research centres and other related activities.
Mr Belamagi said the Karnataka Milk Federation would act as the nodal agency to implement the central package based on the guidelines issued by the Centre. It would not be diverted to other activities of the department, he asserted.
The minister said the state government was spending over Rs eight crore to construct 63 dispensary buildings this year and also taking measures to fill vacancies. He said that department was facing shortage of the availability of veterinary graduates despite opening up new colleges.
