Centre rushes force to Rajasthan
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) The Centre today rushed 24 companies of the central forces to maintain law and order in Rajasthan where violence broke out in many parts during state-wide agitation by the Gujjar community demanding Scheduled Tribe status.
"The Centre is in constant touch with the state government and monitoring the situation," a Home Ministry official said.
Home Secretary Madukar Gupta has spoken to the Chief Secretary and reviewed the situation.
The central forces included companies from CRPF, BSF, Rapid Action Force and companies of police from some states at the intervention of the Centre.
"The Centre will provide additional forces to Rajasthan if required by the state government," the official said.
