Car bomb explosion injures nine in Peshawar
Peshawar, May 29: At least nine people were injured in a car bomb explosion outside the High Court building in Pakistan"s northwestern city of Peshawar today.
"A blast took place in a car parked in the parking lot of Nishtar Hall outside the gates of the High Court. It was a car bomb, we have started investigations," Pakistan's private Geo TV quoted a police official as saying.
He said the bomb which weighed three kilograms damaged cars in parking area of the building.
The wounded have been shifted to the city's main Lady Reading hospital where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.
Peshawar High Court building has been the venue of protests by local lawyers against sacking of top Judge Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on March 9 by President Pervez Musharraf.
Lawyers, who held demonstrations after the blast held intelligence agencies responsible for the blast saying such activities are being planned to sabotage their movement for independence of judiciary.
