Campaign to issue identity cards to MP voters

Bhopal, May 29: A special campaign for generation and distribution of voters photo identity cards will be launched in Madhya Pradesh on June 1 as the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held on the basis of electoral photo identity cards only, an official spokesman said today.

In the three-phased campaign, each spanning one and a half month, identity cards will be provided to those left out in the first phase earlier. The photography team will visit each house and distribute the identity cards at door-step itself.

For the benefit of those who could not be present for photography during the team's visit, a passport size photo could be handed over to the booth-level officer, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer R P Pathak said.

The first phase from June 1 to July 15 will cover Morena, Guna, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Satna, Shahdol, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori, Jabalpur and Katni districts.

Sheopur, Bhind, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Rewa, Sidhi, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Betul, Sehore, Bhopal and Raisen will be covered in the second phase from June 15 to July 30.

The third phase from August 16 to September 15 will cover Narsinghpur, Shajapur, Badwani, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ashoknagar, Anuppur, Hoshangabad, Harda, Dewas, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam and Burhanpur.
