BJP opposes AP govt's move to acquire farm lands

Visakhapatnam, May 29 (UNI) The BJP in Andhra Pradesh today opposed the state government's move to acquire agricultural lands for Jindal company to set up an alumina smelter plant in S Kotal mandal in this district.

Addressing a press conference here, Party state president B Dattatreya said the government's decision to acquire 1,400 acres of land for the proposed smelter unit would affect the girijan farmers who were cultivating the lands.

The party would extend its support to the farmers in their struggle to prevent the government from acquiring the land for setting up the factory, he added.
