BJP leader faces extortion case
Moga, May 29 (UNI) District police today registered a case against senior BJP leader Bhajan Lal Satara, vice president of the Moga district unit, on alleged charges of extortion and criminal intimidation under section 384/511 and 506 of IPC.
According to the FIR lodged by local resident Ravi Sood, Satara had illegally occupied a plot of prime land of five marla situated near the Rattan Cinema for the last many years even though a judicial court had directed him to vacate the land.
Sood further said that the accused not only threatened him of dire consequeces but also demanded Rs ten lakh to vacate the plot.
The senior superintendent of police after getting the allegation verified by a DSP ordered for the registration of the case against the BJP leader. No arrest has been made so far.
