Army stages flag march in Dausa in Rajasthan
Jaipur, May 29 (UNI) The army staged a flag march on highway between Sikandara and Patoli in Dausa district after being called in to assist civil administration to deal with situation in the wake of violent protests and chakka jam agitation by Gujjar community in different parts of Rajasthan today.
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said six columns of the Army were sent from Jaipur for deployment along the highways in Dausa district while two columns were being sent from Bharatpur.
Besides this, two columns of army were sent to Bundi from Kota to control the situation, he said.
The army was called in to guard highways, railway bridges and tracks as the agitators tried to damage highways, brigdes and tracks at a few places, Mr Kataria said.
The administration had already promulgated prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC around major highways in the state, he added.
At least five people were killed in police firing to disperse the protestors who blocked a national highway, demanding reservation for the community.
