Appoint women as judges for Family Courts

Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) Karnataka Women and Children Welfare Minister H K Kumarswamy today said that the Department had urged Karnataka High Court to appoint to women judges for Family Courts in the state.

Speaking to reporters here he said that presently all the nine Family courts were headed by male judges and he would make a request to the Chief Justice in this regard.

He said the Women's Help Desks facility available now in seven districts would be extended to other districts, he said.

He said that the police had registered 40 acid attack cases on women and out of that 12 cases had been solved, he said. He said the grant for acid attack victims would be raised to Rs 25,000 by the state government.
