Akal Takht rejects apology of Sacha Sauda
Amritsar, May 29 (UNI) The Akal Takht today rejected the apology tendered by Dera Sacha Sauda, and asserted that the ongoing agitation against it would continue in a peaceful manner.
''The agitation to uproot the Sacha Sauda sect will continue in a peaceful manner'', a statement released by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vidanti, after a hectic meeting of the Sikh High Priests at the Takht to consider the apology of the Dera here, said.
Dismissing the apology sought by the Dera from Guru Gobind Singh, the Akal Takht said that it was ''devoid of feelings.'' The Dera had on May 27 tendered an apology for the blasphemous imitation of Guru Gobind Singh by its chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh during a function in Salabatpura in Bhatinda district.
''Guru is always forgiving but in the religious realm the feelings of the heart are all important. If something is done without feeling, its not acceptable in the eyes of the Guru'', the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism, stated.
A careful perusal of the terminology used in the apology shows that Dera chief was ''an arrogant and a cunning person'', the statement added.
The Akal Takht made it clear that the religious, political and social boycot of the Sacha Sauda sect would stand. The boycot edict was issued at Takht Damdama Sahib on May 17 by the Sikh High Priests.
