WB: Two persons ordered to transit remand

Bangaon, May 28: The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-in-charge, Bangaon have ordered seven-day transit remand of two people from North 24 Parganas for their alleged dealings in fake currencies.

They were produced before the sub-divisional court here yesterday by the Mumbai Police seeking their transit remand for their alleged involvment in fake currency dealings, police confirmed here today.

The visiting Maharashtra police team had with the help of district police here, raided their Kuthi Bari and Motiganj residences and arrested them. They were yesterday produced before the North 24 Parganas sub-divisional court.

According to the police, Mohammad Masihat(Kuthibari) and Saifuddin Ahmed(Motiganj) were arrested following the arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals from Aurangabad in Maharashtra on May 18 for their involvement in depositing fake Indian currency in an UTI Bank ATM and drew money from other counters.

The Police also seized fake notes worth Rs four lakh from the Bangladeshis who had often visited India with valid travel documents several times.

Interrogations of these Bangladeshi nationals were on, police said here.

Police had rushed to Bangaon to trace both the accuse Motihas and Saifuddin.
