Tiger skin worth Rs 1.5 lakh seized, one held

Varanasi, May 28 (UNI) The district police today claimed to have busted a racket of animal skin smugglers with the arrest of a person here along with tiger skin valued at Rs 1.5 lakh in international market.

On a tip-off, Mohd Hasin -- a resident of Ghausabad in Varanasi -- was nabbed along with the skin of big cat near Ashapur crossing under Sarnath police station area, police said.

The seized skin was estimated to be worth Rs 1.5 lakh in the international market.

Police suspect the involvement of a big racket dealing in animal skins, whose network could be spread in many countries. Further investigations were on.
