Three brothers among four killed in Kashmir cloudburst

Srinagar, May 28 (UNI) Three brothers were among four farmers killed while two others sustained serious burn wounds in a cloudburst at the famed tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir today.

Police said the farmers were working in paddy fields at Sofipora in Pahalgam area when the cloud burst at 1705 hrs.

Four farmers died on the spot while two others sustained serious burn injuries due to the cloudburst, they added.

The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Mustaffa (45), Fida Hussain Mir (36), Nisar Ahmed Mir (32) and Abid Hussain Mir (26).

Among the dead, Fida Hussain, Nisar Ahmed and Abid Hussain were brothers, police said.

The injured -- Ali Mohammad Balti and Ali Mohammad Mir -- were shifted to a hospital, they added.

Police immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
