Ten grenades recovered in Jammu

Jammu, May 28 (UNI) Security forces recovered ten hand grenades and eight initiation devices today in separate counter-insurgency operations in this region of Jammu and Kashmir, an army spokesman said.

Joint columns of Army and police recovered three Chinese made grenades from a hideout on the land of one Shah Nawaz, son of Muzaffar Hussain Shah, a resident of Lah in Thanamandi area of bordering Rajouri district, Army's XVI Corp spokesman Col D K Badola said.

Meanwhile, acting on an Intelligence Bureau input, 23 Rashtriya Rifles recovered a polythene bag containing seven hand grenades near the National Highway (NH1-A) in Ramban district, he said.

The bag, which was buried two-feet under the earth, was recovered with the help of sniffer dog, the spokesman said.

In another operation, security forces recovered eight initiation devices from the house of one Mohammad Iqbal, 28, at Chhapra in Doda district, Col Badola informed.
